Blinds, Shutters, or Curtains - Which is Better?
Dec 19 2009
It is time to redecorate and now you have to decide if you want window blinds, curtains or shutters for your home? Consider a few thoughts before you buy...
It's all about location
Anytime you choose a window treatment, whether it is blinds, curtains, or shutters, you need to consider the location. The location of the window will make a big difference in your choice. For example how much privacy do you need and what kind of material would best fit the area. Is it a moist area like bathroom blinds or kitchen blinds? You can also consider the amount of dirt the blinds will attract and how easy they will be to reach and clean.
Privacy - If you are looking for window treatments for a bedroom, you want the ability to completely block the view from the outside in. Curtains, blinds and shutters all can fit the job. In addition consider light and noise control needs. Curtains do an excellent job in most cases. Pairing them with blinds will give you some flexibility. Shutters can also be a good choice.
Cleanliness - Curtains often times require dry cleaning. Shutters and blinds will require regular dusting, wiping or vacuuming.
Moisture - If you are in a bathroom or kitchen, fabric often isn't the best choice. An aluminum or faux wood blind is moisture resistant.
