In a perfect world, we would all have an abundance of space and land to enjoy. We may put up a playground set for the kids, a large garage for dad and large garden for mom to plant flowers or vegetables. Unfortunately, it is not a perfect world, and not all of these items are practical for all people. For example, you may live in an apartment or condo where these things are not possible. Or, the house that you own is very small, and does not have the available room. So, what can you do?
While the lack of space may be a problem for the playground and the garage, but it may not be a problem for would be gardeners. While you may not have the space for a large garden, you may be able to start of window box garden. What is that you may ask? A window box is a small container or hanging basket that can be used to plant items. They can contain anything from flowers to fresh herbs to vegetables.
While a window box garden is the name, you can actually use other methods. If you have a small patio or fire escape, you can place them there. Or, if you only have a window sill, that would be an acceptable location for growing. Plus, the container does not have to be elaborate, it can be as simple as an old coffee can, glass jars, a hanging basket or any similar containers. All you really need is Sun and some water to help your small garden grow.

Corner Window Blinds
If two windows meet in the corner and privacy is a concern, the best way to install window blinds or shades is to overlap them (see figure). One blind will be the measurement from the wall to the window. The second blind will be the measurement from the wall to where the second blind will be. This measurement will be from the wall to the window subtracting the width of the blinds. For a 2 inch wood blind, that will be about 2 to 2 1/2 inches.... more

How to Measure Vertical Blinds for Sliding Glass Doors
When measuring window blinds for sliding glass doors it is important that you measure the blind to fit as on OUTSIDE mount. Vertical blinds are a common window treatment for sliders. More times than not there is not enough depth in a window to mount vertical blinds inside the window frame. Often there is Moulding encasing the window and your measurement must allow for it. A common rule of thumb is to ADD 2 inches to the length of the vertical blind. In other words measure from the floor to 2 inches above the moulding. If you have no moulding measure from the floor to 2 inches above the top of the opening.... more
